Jathaniel Cavitt
Jathaniel Cavitt is a husband, dad, and practical theologian who approaches ministry with a unique perspective—not always in the way you might expect from a pastor. His writing and leadership are not filled with flowery theological musings but instead focus on practical, real-world applications of missional discipleship and church renewal.

A United Methodist pastor and missional leader, Jathaniel’s calling and passion align with helping others in missional leadership, often lending itself to building up the Church through discipleship and revitalizing congregations that are declining or plateauing. He believes that every believer is called to live on mission, and his work focuses on equipping and activating all of God’s people to fully engage in God’s work.

Jathaniel’s formal theological training includes a Master’s degree from Memphis Theological Seminary and a Doctorate from Wesley Theological Seminary, where he focused on Wesley, Mission, and Evangelism. His doctoral project centered on using missional discipleship as a means of renewing the local church. His real-life education, however, comes from his career as a police officer and Special Agent in the United States Secret Service, experiences that deeply shaped his perspective on leadership, mission, and the power of a transformed life.

Now, as a Certified Church Consultant and Church Revitalization Specialist, Jathaniel works with congregations in a variety of ways, including missional staffing, church governance, missional administration, and church revitalization. His mission is to help churches and individuals discover their missional identity and live into their full God-given potential.

Through his writing, coaching, and leadership, Jathaniel equips both individuals and church leaders to transition from consumers of religious experiences to active participants in God’s mission. His approach is deeply biblical yet refreshingly practical, providing disciples with the confidence to engage their world with purpose.

Jathaniel’s passion for missional leadership has led him to train church teams, mentor ministry leaders, and develop tools that make missional living accessible to all. His work centers on the conviction that every believer is sent, every neighborhood is a mission field, and every disciple is called to flourish.
